Lifestyle / Career

Your lifestyle is really how you LIVE your life! How you manage your work, your personal time, how you take care of yourself - how you balance your life.

This time of your life is about much more than some physical symptoms of perimenopause or menopause; this is an important time of life transitions.

This stage some refer to as mid-life is a huge opportunity to take stock and become more proactive. It's a little like adolescence - things can be confusing, you may even find yourself rebelling a little.

Whether this time becomes a 'crisis' or an opportunity will depend on how you handle it. For women in their 40s who are entering into perimenopause, be hyper-vigilent not to buy into the myth that this means a decline in sexual desirability and career possibilities. Doing so will only create doubt and anxiety.

Women tend to go into 'crisis' mode earlier than men probably because they are more in tune with their feelings and for many the cultural sterotypes of menopause only add to these feelings.

This life transition doesn't occur overnight - it's up to you to navigate through it so that you come through it feeling better about yourself, more alive and more in charge of your life than ever before. It can truly be a new beginning, a chance to pursue some of your dreams, passions and desires you haven't had time to explore earlier in your life.

Some of the lifestyle issues you may be navigating through are:

  • Balancing Various Aspects of Your Life
  • Uncertainty about the Future
  • Career Change
  • Divorce
  • Marriage
  • Caring for Aging Parents
  • Empty Nest Syndrome
  • Desire for Something Different
  • Preparing Yourself Financially for the Future
  • and more

One thing is quite important and that is that you refrain from making impulsive decisions that often will end up creating a big mess. Realize that this transition may take time so give yourself several months - maybe a year or more to redefine the life and career you want to move into.
