Humor / Fun
It's been proven that your menopausal symptoms are directly affected by how much you laugh.

Sure, some stress can be healthy in certain circumstances and in short spurts; the hormones released during the flight-or-fight response can prime you for fending off that mugger in the back alley (but let's face it, how often does that happen?).
But having stress be a regular visitor will actually aggravate any menopausal symptoms you may be experiencing. And if that's not enough, cortisol - the hormone released when you're anxious or stressed - will increase your belly fat!
We all know that exercise is a great release for raging hormones, it's been found that laughing will have the same relieving qualities.
| "When you laugh your muscles relax, your stress hormones decrease, your immune function improves, your blood pressure lowers, your pain triggers go down, your blood sugar levels lower, you forget your problems and your skin appearance improves. This is all research proven." ~Dr. Eva Ritvo M.D., Psychiatrist |
A good chuckle is especially important during the menopausal years. The changing hormone levels along with other potential mid-life challenges i.e., empty-nest syndrome, caring for aging parents, decisions about how you want to spend the next 40-50 years, and more can produce stress.
So how do you do it? How do you find a laugh when nothing seems funny? Here are a few suggestions...
- Watch comedians or funny movies. There are some funny menopause videos on this site - click here.
- Poke a little fun at your own imperfections because the attempt at perfection is definitely NOT funny. Goof on yourself but in a truly good humored way - not as a way to beat yourself up.
- If it's not funny--just fake it til you make it.
- Check out YouTube and watch some of the babies laughing - I dare you not to laugh.
- Practice smiling for absolutely no good reason!
So go ahead and get rid of some belly fat with a good belly laugh!
